I was raised in a very religious family, but when I was twelve years old, I realized that all of my religion wasn’t going to do me any good. I understood for the first time that God wasn’t interested in my trying to be a good person, because when we are compared to the perfect righteousness of God we are all found imperfect and full of sin. It was then that I came to God admitting my need for Him and accepting by faith the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as the payment for my sin.

As I began to grow in my relationship with Jesus Christ through the Bible and through talking with Him in prayer, He began to show me that nothing in this world, other than Him, is worth living for. I realized that all the money, popularity, pleasure, good deeds, etc., wasn’t going to make me truly happy, fulfilled, or content. I would always want more. So, I made a very simple decision. I told God that I would do whatever He wanted and go wherever He wanted; all He had to do was lead me. Shortly after this, God used a very simple presentation about missions work in Africa to give me a similar burden. After spending some time seeking God’s heart about it, I knew without any doubt that He was leading me to give my life as a missionary in Africa.

In 2004 I graduated from Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in missions. During my senior year in college, God specifically directed Tiffany and me to the country of Togo. In the summer of 2003, I had the opportunity to visit Togo with veteran missionary Randy Alderman. Through that experience, the Lord assured us that the greatest way for us to bring glory to Jesus Christ is by serving Him in Togo. We are anticipating the prospect of how God will work through us in the coming years in Togo!

Because I was raised by Christian parents I was surrounded by spiritual things, so it was easy for me to “pray a prayer” and “make a salvation decision” at the age of five. When I started into my teen years, I began to doubt whether or not I was truly a Christian. In my heart, I knew that I was living the external lifestyle of what a Christian is “supposed to be,” but I knew that I really did not have a relationship with Jesus Christ.

After a high school church camp one summer I accepted Jesus into my life and became His child. It was a few years later when the Lord started putting the desire in my heart to go to Africa. I met a missionary family going to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and I was able to take a trip with them for four months. I believe the Lord used many circumstances on that trip to prepare me for my future in Africa.

Upon returning to America, I attended Trinity Baptist College. During this time I fell in love with and married Jesse, who had also given his life to go to Africa. After praying earnestly for God to show us where in Africa He wanted us to go, He showed us Togo, West Africa. I am excited to see what God is going to do in Togo.

I’m five years old, and I’m loving every minute of it! Right now, living in Québec, my days are filled with stickers, markers, crayons, dinosaurs, doing school work, and eating my mom and dad out of house and home. I love spending time with my friends here, but I wish that they would learn English!
