Our Ministry

The religious situation in Togo presents an interesting challenge to ministry. Ancient tribal traditions, various cults, and an influx of Islam all present difficulties to the spread of Christianity. The heart of voodoo worship originates near Togo, and it retains a strong grip on the spiritual lives of West Africans. Many Togolese live in constant fear and worry because of the influences of voodoo.  People in Togo however remain surprisingly receptive to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our ministry in Togo seeks to glorify God by meeting the spiritual needs of Togolese people in the following ways:

  • Bible institute training. One of the fundamental purposes of missions work is to teach nationals to reach their own people. Our desire is to provide this vital training by instructing pastoral students to plant churches, disciple believers, and teach others to repeat this process.
  • Church planting. Although missions work is progressing in Togo, most cities and villages still do not have a biblically fundamental Baptist church to call their own. Our goal is to assist both Togolese pastors and Bible institute graduates in planting new churches in these unreached areas by means of active evangelism and sound Bible preaching and teaching.
  • Discipleship programs. By instituting in-depth discipleship programs we seek to ground Togolese Christians in their faith and prepare them to show their own people how to follow Jesus Christ. We believe that discipleship is the key to future growth in Togo. By laying a proper foundation with discipleship, Togolese men and women will be able to effectively reach their own people for generations to come.
